Lakeview Siding & Exterior Refresh

The Baptiste home’s original vinyl siding had faded unevenly and cracked in several places after a hailstorm two seasons earlier. During our pre-quote moisture inspection — a step Owen mentioned two other contractors skipped entirely — we found elevated moisture readings around the bay window on the lake-facing side, consistent with water intrusion behind the siding rather than surface damage alone.

Once we opened that section, we confirmed rotted sheathing behind the bay window, replaced roughly 40 square feet of it, corrected the window flashing that had been letting water in, and installed new house wrap across the full exterior before hanging fiber cement siding — a material upgrade the family chose specifically for its better performance against lake-effect weather.

The rot repair was a genuine unknown at quote time; we’d flagged it as a possible finding based on the moisture readings and priced a contingency range, which covered the actual repair cost without a mid-project surprise.
