Dennis Farrow’s homeowner’s insurance renewal came back with a rider requiring the home’s original 60-amp fuse box be replaced within 90 days — a common outcome for houses built before 1965 that still have their original service. The old box had no room for the dedicated circuits a modern kitchen and home office actually need, and two of the fuse sockets showed visible scorching from past overloads.

We pulled a permit, coordinated a temporary utility disconnect with the power company, and installed a new 200-amp panel with 30 clearly labeled breaker positions — room for the EV charger circuit the family plans to add next year without another panel change. The old fuse box and its exterior meter housing were removed and hauled away as part of the same job.

The utility company’s own inspector signed off on-site the same afternoon the rough work finished, and the insurance company received documentation directly from us rather than requiring the homeowner to chase down the paperwork.
